Thread: Your broker manipulates spreads during news?

  1. #1
I've been observing a disturbing pattern with my broker (I'm not going to say which one... yet

Yeah, that's classic of a lot of market makers. They upload the spread because they know there's aggressive liquidity and they want to protect themselves or just cut it out. Look for a real ECN broker, not those who claim to be and aren't.

The same thing happens to me with ICMarkets. In strong news, the spread opens as if it were an exotic pair. I dont understand how they keep saying they are ECN. Where is the transparency?

It is not manipulation, it is the market. If there is no liquidity, the spread expands. What do you expect, to give you perfect conditions in the midst of war of orders?

Totally according to the creator. If the broker does not warn or limit those spread movements, it is manipulation by omission. One thing is volatility, another is abuse.

Change broker, simple. There are options that block the maximum spread during news or at least inform you on the instrument tab. You don't have to endure scams.

And has anyone tried how Darwinex behaves during high-impact events? Im considering migrating there but I dont want to fall into the same with another face.

I use Pepperstone and while the spread goes up, it doesn't get to such absurd levels. It's usually 4-7 pips in EURUSD during NFP, which is understandable. But 30 pips... that's theft.

Are you operating with stop loss of 5 pips in news? If so, the problem is not spread, its you. Learn to operate events, dont blame them for your lack of strategy.

Hahaja, the broker's advocate has already appeared. How much do you get paid to justify being keyed by 30 pips spreads? The data is clear, not a matter of strategy.
