View Full Version : Is anyone else sick of sliding with IC Markets?

Lately the landslides with IC Markets are driving me crazy. I already put a limited order and run it 2 or up to 3 pips below. Im operating with moderate batches (2-3

The same thing happened to me this week with the NFP. I had a well placed order and I was executed almost 3.5 pips below. The worst thing is that it just touched my SL and bounced. Its no coincidence. Im considering moving to Pepperstone. At least there you know the spread is inflated, but the execution is cleaner. IC Markets is getting cloudy...

Are they really crying for 2 pips? What did they expect operating news in an ECN? Miracles? Use demo accounts if they dont know how to handle risk in high volatility. This is real trading, not Disney. IC Markets isnt perfect, but spreads are still one of the best. If you dont know how to deal with slips, maybe you should switch hobby.

I have been with IC Markets since 2020 and never had problems like that. I do avoid operating during heavy fundamentals. Why risk so much in such volatile moments? Set realistic goals. Anyway, I recommend you document each case and open ticket with support. Sometimes you get reimbursed if it is a clearly anomalous execution.

So I sent a ticket and they answered me with the typical copy-paste of market conditions. They didnt investigate anything, they didnt verify anything. And when I insisted, total silence. Very disappointed. Before I recommended them with my eyes closed. Now... I have my doubts. At least they could be more transparent with their liquidity.

Now, if anyone thinks IC Markets doesn't shake hands when it suits them... welcome to the real world. They're a STP/ECN broker, yes, but that doesn't mean they don't have conflicts of interest.

I have had good and bad times with them. But if there is one thing that did improve it was customer service. The last times I opened tickets they answered me in less than 12 hours and gave me clear explanations. Maybe they are not the perfect broker, but at least they are not ghosts like others that do not have licenses.

Actually, I am surprised to read so many complaints. I have been with them for 2 years and not a serious problem. I use VPS in London and run with EA. All clean. I smell more of network problems or bad user-side settings. Before blaming the broker, check your connection, order type, and if you are using MT4 or cTrader. There are many variables that influence.

And what about the clippage on cTrader? Im considering migrating from MT4 because I read that execution is more direct. If someone has real experience, it would help me to know. Im also interested to know if theres a difference with the Raw account in that respect.

I operate on cTrader and I do notice that the slippage is smaller. In addition, it shows you total transparency: requested price, executed price, run time. MT4 is a black box compared to that. Yes, if you come from using many MT4 indicators, get ready: not everything is available in cTrader, but if you prioritize execution, it is worth it.

I switched to cTrader for exactly that reason. I was fed up with the surprises in MT4 with the brokers. Since I operate on cTrader, not only do I see more clarity, but also my results improved because I can analyze the execution well. Yes, if you use complex EAs or rare indicators, it may not be your thing. But if you operate manual or semi-automatic, it is a flat improvement.

I'm also having a slippage with IC Markets, but is there any broker that doesn't have it? It's part of the game. The theme is how much and how often. If it becomes systematic, you do have to be alarmed there. It would be fair to at least give us tools to audit each execution without having to beg for support.

I cant help but think that many expect too much from brokers. The market is manipulated, yes, but its not always the broker that pulls the strings. Sometimes youre just in the wrong place at the wrong time. IC Markets is still one of the best retail options there is, if not the best. If youre losing money, check your system before looking for external culprits.

Totally according to the previous comment. Here some look in the broker for the guilt of everything: their bad analysis, their over-leverage, their impatience. But if you use IC Markets with head, it is as decent as there is. Those who cannot deal with the nature of the market, should try a perpetual demo. So at least their losses will be imaginary.

I'm evaluating options to change, but I still don't find something clearly superior. I tried Eightcap and took a tremendous disappointment. Wider spread, and support... nonexistent. For now I will continue with IC Markets, but watching. If this becomes trend, I change without looking back.

After reading all the comments, Im going to provide a more technical view on sliding with IC Markets, because I think many are pointing to the broker without considering the whole context. The slippage is not unique to IC Markets. Its an inherent feature of the market, especially under conditions of high volatility and low liquidity. What does this mean? That when there are many traders trying to execute orders at the same time (like during news

Do you have any execution journal models you recommend? Im interested in starting to wear one.

I operate from Argentina with 150 ping and the difference is noticed. A VPS changed my game.

A lot of text, but in the end we all want clean execution and point. Its not that hard.

I with limit orders almost never have slippage. The problem is that many do not know how to use them well.

Okay, that's all very well in theory, but have you tried to claim something from IC Markets, because that's where they get you out of the cloud.

It sounds nice, but we don't always have time or resources to mount a VPS or audit everything. What do we do that we operate from mobile?

nuhavesCTura

Okay, but what happens when the slippage occurs outside of news events and with absurd spreads?

cesrSesnogra

It's not all the broker's fault, and you explained it perfectly.

Good post, but what if the broker simulates a lack of liquidity to apply slippage in your favor?

Your explanation is fine, but we don't all operate on large accounts. What about those who operate micro and affect us the same way?
