Thread: How long will it take me to stop being a rookie?

Hi everyone, Ive been in demo for 4 months, studying daily, watching videos, reading books, and practicing entries and exits. I know Im still missing a lot, but I ask myself a sincere question: how long does it take realistic to stop being a beginner? I dont say be profitable consistently, just feel like Im not lost anymore. Months? Years? Depends on the person? Id love to read their experiences.

It depends on the humility with which you learn and the ego you bring on. I spent 2 years thinking myself ready and I was still a rookie in disguise. When I started to really listen, that changed everything.

The general rule is, if you still have to ask if you stopped being rookie... you probably haven't.

I spent almost 3 years in demos and microaccounts until I stopped operating by impulse and started planning everything. That was the turning point. Stop improvising is when the good starts.

Don't get obsessed with time, you better ask yourself how many different mistakes you've already made. When you repeat less and correct more, that's where maturity begins.

Honestly, 4 months is nothing, you're still crawling, but if you already have that self-consciousness, you're better than 90% who think you're going to live trading in 3 weeks.

It depends on how hard the market has hit you. Many learn only after a good emotional beating. If you havent cried for bad management yet, youre missing.

Do you want to know if you stopped being rookie? Ask yourself these 3 questions: Do you have a written strategy? Do you follow it to the letter? Do you register each operation and analyze why of each decision? If the answer is no to any of those... you're still a rookie.

It took me 18 months to feel comfortable. Not profitable, eye. Just comfortable with my style and my mistakes. Profitability came later, when I no longer despaired every time I lost.

There are rookies with 6 months of serious experience and 6-year-old veterans who continue to operate as if it were casino. Time is not everything. Intention counts more.
