Thread: Will my stop and take profits disappear?

  1. #1
    Check it out.

I put an order using a SL and also a TP, and I turn off my computer.

Did my SL and TP get delivered to the broker, and will they implement while my pc is off?

Or, are SL and TP stored only on my (client) device, and therefore my computer has to be on at all times to trigger?

    Yes to the first question.

Unless your TP and SL depend on an EA...

If you can see them together with your open order, the broker has them.

    I need to clarify.

Doblece, how can you understand that?

    Hi Tom,

As long as you put your order and see it supported in your MT4 then your stop loss goal will execute whether you have your computer on or not.

If you have a trailing stop loss on or utilize an EA I believe you need to be connected all the time.

    That's my understanding.

    Personal experience?

Trailings, as Steviet said, sadly do not. Nor EA's.

Did I get it? Your broker told you to STOP TAKING PROFIT?

    LOL

In my experience, you can confirm/verify the alteration in the Journal File!
