Thread: MT4 or MT5 for Scalping: which is really better?

  1. #1
I am between using MT4 or MT5 exclusively for intraday scalping in EUR/USD and GBP/USD. I know that many still prefer MT4 as usual, but I have read that MT5 has improvements in running and optimisation of backtesting. Can anyone here who has compared both making real scalping share their experience?

MT4 is a fossil. MT5 surpasses everything, but most still with MT4 only because there are more indicators and EAs available.

For pure scalping, the speed of execution depends more on the broker and the connection than on the platform. Both are fast if your broker is decent.

I went from MT4 to MT5 six months ago and I don't regret it. Trade statistics are more complete and I love how you organize your trading history.

MT5 is better at everything except for the amount of resources available for free. That's where MT4 wins from far away.

Very careful with brokers offering MT5 but still with slow servers. I have seen spreads widen to the beast in news.

Have you noticed any difference in the slippage? Some say MT5 handles orders better in volatile markets.

That's pure marketing. Slippage depends on the broker, not the software. If your broker doesn't respect you, even with MT6 you won't get better.

Yes, but the way MT5 manages pending orders is different, and that does affect the outcome of scalping in fast markets.

In MT4 you can open several independent positions in the same direction, while in MT5 you group them together. Some scalpers don't like that.
