Thread: Displaying a Higher Timeframe Stoch

Bit of a noob question, but is it feasible to demone a higher timeframe stoch on your chart with a MTF ind?

With MA's you can demone a 30MA on a 5min chart which is the same as a 10MA on a 15min chart, but can you do something similar with stochs?

I use a 5,3,3 on a 1hr chart and want to observe the 4hr and 1D on the same chart.

    thanks Stan

Yes it's possible, to a certain extent. The bigger the time-frame gap, the less accurate it'll be.

Put a MTF Stoch indior in your chart set to the higher time-frame. Preferably one which interpolates between closure points similar to this . Put a normal stoch on top of it with its settings multiplied by a factor dependent on the proportion of the HTF/TF periods. For H1/H4 use 4 (240/60). Then tweek the settings until you discover a combination that is as close as possible to the MTF stoch.
