If you quit your job and begin living out of trading, that's really the start!

In the event that years you're still earning a living out of trading, then you may state you're somehow earning money in the long term.

I can tell you for certain that most retail traders lose money. But, it's also true that traders with higher balances correlate to high rates of profitability. When I had to pick 1 reason above all others why retail traders fail it would be:expectations. Professional traders attempt to make a small percentage with a lot of money, whereas retail traders are trying to double, triple, quadruple their funds with a few thousand or less at the account. The market is much too efficient to get a novice trader to achieve those sort of outsized returns on any sort of consistent basis.

Just consider this forum to find the expectations that are unrealistic. Can you make 10 percent per month each month with risk? It's not possible my friend, it is not a realistic aim. If retail traders were trying to make 10 percent per year , I'm convinced a greater percentage would be profitable.

A followup poll should be made...

Can you lie about the very first survey?

    Yes
    No

Who requires a survey just look at peoples equity curve on explorer and you will come to find out that most aren't profitable such as me. But im looking to change this. I've studied technicals since 2003 and used to be on this forum by another name MRJTDUDE because 2007(lost password). Face it trading is HARD. Your going to lose but focus more n money management I can't stress that enough.

I appreciate someone trading longer than me 2005~~!! I been a decade. I received in thinking that this has some effortless logic. All I know, is the market will do anything and everything. Its your task to identify all conditions and also have a solution.

There is really little point voting, since profitable right now does not mean profitable in 10 years from today... as some folks trading the eurchf have found out.

All of your profit and more could be removed in 5 mins, in 1 trade from madness.
