Yes this is exactly what I was thinking, backtesting is significant but your skill will soon needed... this does not mean to possess great skills, just principles then the system should drive you on the right way

The further indiors you use, the more changes you will need....
Attempt to use small number of generic indiors like SR, MACD, Divergence...

If I may chip , with own backtest, I try to realize how price behave under my egy. And, to tell you the fact, recently price does not act as it had been through backtest starting around July to August last year. Up to December, it is unusual behaviour (in my egy standpoint ) attracted me a lot more profit. But start January this year, particularly after Obama officially into the White House and start making decisions following decisions, I had to pay additional attention to price movement. But I really don't think I'll change my egy in the not too distant future. Simply minor changes on the principles, but the basic egy remains undamaged.

I don't use indiors, but I assume you are right, the further indiors you use the more factors come into the sport and more adjustments will be needed

December has been an easy month for me too, very powerful trend higher volatility= lots of pips.

Those minor changes are what worries me, still never altered the rules, but when it will happen I think that psicologically would be an hurricane, because obviously the new adjustments (even if modest ) will bring win and losses too, and when you analize losses maybe your old system could have react better and that would likely hit itself confidence doing this, I would begin to switch from the new rules to the old one then back to new ecc... trasforming a good relyable system in a garbage !
That is why I opted to develop another system different from the first one in which my choice are as crucial as system principles, I feel much more comfortable, because principles are not entirely repaired, this gives me room to breath (psicologically)...

The Currency Market markets can move fast, with profits turning into declines in a matter of minutes, which makes it critical to properly manage your own capital. There's nothing worse than seeing your commerce be up 30 points one minute, only to see it completely reverse a brief while after and execute your stop 40 points lower. You can secure your profits by using trailing stops and trading more than one lot. This is how you can rule your trading and win it.

A system which operates under market conditions might not work under other market conditions. So, obviously, you'd been to use a different system. I realized some time ago that apart from being disciplined traders also have to be surprisingly adaptive, and they must get the balance between both.

This is my panic needing to trade whole time. It's been a very long learning curve to trade on a demo account and in the event the trading methods that I use are no longer workable in a years time . It's taken me a while to come up with a system that is right for me when it ceased working as markets shift I feel that would break my brain.

It depends on the situation, as a newcomer I had been profitable in demo account using Bollinger Bands but in live trading I did not get the outcome as such as demo. So I had to alter the trading system. It's really difficult to rely on mended trading system for all time.

Did you ever figure out what didn't work out with the old method when you started using it on a live account?
