Thread: Pivot point trading?

  1. #1
Anyone care to perform a pivot point 101 course? I am not looking for a indepth article. Just a brief summary of how you use them? Can you use R2 R1 or R3? Can you use S1, S2 or S3? And how are they used by you.

I'm not trying to find a book just some short comments about the way you use them. Once I get an overall idea I can develope my own style around it.

    Thanks.

Thank you Liquid4x, which was precisely what I was looking for. Just so I get this straight in my mind. Now the EUR/USD looked like it turned out really near the S1. So would you start looking for an exit near R1 or would you search for an exit near the pivot point as it has been hovering there for a couple hours?

FWIW I'm fairly new to trading and am trading a demo at the moment and is for some time the way my trading is going. I am just trying to get a system down which works reletively consistent.

Based on current market conditions PP will be 1st goal S1 your 2nd target.
When it reaches on PP and lacks momentum then exiting at PP may be a fantastic idea.

My software computes pivots at 12am London Time, which is 7pm EST in america where I live. At that time I wait to get the price to strike S1 or R1 and proceed and short, respectively at these points. I proceed for 10pips in my limitation and stop and that give me a high degree of accuracy. You've got to have a direct broker though as a 3 pip spread can keep you from profiting. I would recommend COESfx.

It seems to work for me.
Pip hunter. Camarillo is a new expression for me. Can you point me in a way where I could get some more information about Camirillo? I have done a google search and wasn't certain what to look for and came up with a town in California. I will keep searching and perhaps I will discover it before you reply... or perhaps not.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

The trading desk that I use from ACM recalculates PP's at approximately 15:00 MST. I've attempted a 10 pip stop (trailing) but it appears that if the markets go quite a erratic in the afternoon it stops me out regularly with a loss. If I use a little larger trailing stop I can ride out the weather in the daytime and appear to perform a little better.

Thanks though. As I said before, I am still demoing therefore I can try these systems to get the one which works for me.

Roger, thank you a lot better. I really don't have time to read it but I will definitely read it tomorrow. And do not worry about the english. It is OK if you type self-evident, cause I read slow. So that's not a issue 11, I am able to open term. Thank you so much.

Because of everyone. You guys have been a lot of help. I've got more info than I will deal with in the next few days. But I'll get through it all.

Well, thanks to everyone's help here. I believe I got everything I needed. I received some formulas and built a spreadsheet. Take a look and see what you believe. I protected it so that I wouldn't mess up any areas. I put a couple different formulas on the market. If you want to change anything the password is Foreign Exchange. That will let you unprotect the areas to alter formulas. .

    Let me know.
