Each broker had their own start up amount. What I'd do is to record the brokers that are cited on this thread frequently and then visit their sites. You will find that many are currently displaying specials should you join before the end of the year.
I follow up on that thread because I am wondering the same thing. It isn't about the minimum money you can throw into your account but about the minimum money you need to spend so that you'll have reasonable opportunities to do some thing on fx
