Thread: How long did it take you to stop losing money?

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to this. I've been in demo for a few months and a few weeks in real, and the truth is I'm still losing money. I'd like to know if this is normal, how long it took you to stop losing, and if there's any stage where "suddenly" everything starts to make sense.

It is not to discourage you, but it takes three years and it still happens to me. The moment when everything makes sense is not magical, it comes after many documented and analyzed errors.

It took me about a year. Not to win, but at least to stop losing. What helped me the most was to stop operating so much and focus only on a couple of setups that I understood well.

Losing is part of the game, if you're not prepared for that, you'd better stick to playing chess. This is a business, not a casino.

It took me about 9 months. What made the difference was to start running a trading journal and stop improvising. It sounds basic, but nobody does.

I keep waiting for that moment when everything makes sense. At the moment all I understand is that my account is thinner every month.

Don't get obsessed with time. Obsess yourself with processes. The one who measures your success in weeks ends up frustrated. The one who measures your consistency eventually wins.

Im new too and Im glad Im not the only one who feels this is harder than they sell. Thanks for opening this thread, Im already feeling less lonely.

Honestly, until I stopped operating and put daily risk limits, I saw no change. It may take a year or three, but without discipline there is no miracle.

This isn't about stopping losing, it's about losing little when you're wrong and winning a lot when you're right.
