Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Seeing how markets react lately, the question arises: does it still make sense to operate during key news events? In theory, these are times of high volatility and opportunity... but lately I see more manipulation, uncontrollable spikes and spreads that burst any risk management. What do you think?

Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
I stopped operating news since an NFP blew up an account in 7 seconds. Its for me to throw a coin in the air and pray that the broker wont sabotage you. Pure lottery.

Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
It depends on what kind of news and in which pairs. In pop-ups, don't even think about it. But if you know how to read market expectations and previous positioning, you can still take advantage.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Totally agree, today operating news is like crossing a highway with your eyes closed. If you are not institutional, you better stay on the sidelines and expect the dust to settle down.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
It's funny to people who still think they can win by operating the volatility of a news item with a retail broker. It's like trying to catch lightning with a butterfly net.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
I also notice that it is becoming more difficult. Before you saw a clear movement post news, now it seems that the market makes one trap after another, clean stops and just there it is defined. Everything smells of manipulation.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
What if we use the news only as a context? Not to get into the exact moment, but to know in which direction to expect the movement once it stabilizes.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
In my case, I use the calendar only to know when NOT to operate. Im tired of being swept away by absurd things like meaningless statements.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
I have good results in news if I use pending orders out of the volatility zone. Yes, never again with large lots. All micro and with strict management.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Good idea about the pending orders, but don't you execute them with brutal slippage? I've tried and ended up at twice as many loss pipes as expected.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
If you use STP brokers with decent execution, the slippage is not so wild. Of course if youre in a market maker, forget it, theyll bleed you out with spreads and reciting.

Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
I continue to operate news, but only with reversal strategies. When there is an exaggerated and illogical reaction, I go to the other side. It requires cold blood and good reading, that is.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
The irony is that many of us learn to operate because they sell us the idea of winning with news, and then we find that the winners are the ones who don't touch them.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
In the end, it seems that the edge is not in operating the news, but in understanding how the market was positioned before it. Reaction many times is just the pretext for what was already decided.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
I use them as a trampoline. I expect the initial jolt, I let the stops clean up, and I go in when everyone is dizzy. Thats where the paste is, but only if you have patience and nerves of steel. Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Operating fundamental news in the current market requires a much more sophisticated understanding of how the institutional dynamics and the microstructure of the market work. It is no longer enough to know that an increase in interest rates will strengthen a currency or that a bad employment data will weaken another. The movements no longer obey the immediate logic, but are profoundly influenced by the accumulated expectations, the saturation of the positions of the market and the bias of the institutional participants. That is why, today more than ever, the analysis of the feeling of the market is key. It is not enough to see the data: it is necessary to know how the market was positioned before that data. Often a "bad data" generates an increase of the currency because the whole world was already short, and the big ones take advantage to close positions, causing a violent reversal. This is the logic of the liquidity traps that dominate the post-noticia behavior. Another critical factor is the determined liquidity environment.

Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thanks for that analysis, it really opened my eyes.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
And don't you think you're overanalyzing? Sometimes the news is bad and the price is low, simple.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Excellent explanation, all very well argued. I keep it.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Very good, but how do I apply that if I only operate with MT4 and without access to order flows?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Brilliant, the best I've read on the forum lately.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
I don't see it so clear. What if the data hits hard? There's no manipulation there, right?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thank you for taking the time to write this.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
And what do you do when the data is mixed? Sometimes there is no clear direction.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thank you very much for this contribution, it helps me to rethink my approach.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thank you for sharing such a detailed point of view. It motivates me to study more about microstructure.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
But do you really think that retail can compete with institutionals just by understanding this?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Not everything is manipulation, sometimes the market only reacts to data logically.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
This type of content raises the level of the forum. Thank you for sharing.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Great contribution, I read it twice and took notes.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thank you for this. I was just lost with so much post-news contradiction.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
And what do you think of traders who only use price action without indicators or fundamentals?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Don't you think using AI for news can generate overadjustment and loss of robustness?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Okay, but how do you access that institutional positioning data?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
This is worth more than a lot of paid courses.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thank you for opening this conversation so deeply.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Brutal, I can tell you're on another level, I'm going to reread it several times.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Thank you for sharing so much experience. The forum needs more of this.
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
Do you really think retail can anticipate how strong hands react?
-
Re: Is it worth continuing to operate news in 2025?
And at what time do you recommend operating? Before, during or after?
