Re: Is intraday trading really profitable in the long term? Lets discuss it
Ive been operating intraday for a couple of years and while at first it seemed profitable, its getting harder and harder to keep numbers positive. Between spreads, slippage, mental wear and fake breaks, Im starting to wonder if its really possible to live on intraday trading or whether its pure smoke. Has anyone here been here for more than 3 years with consistent results? Or do we all end up going on swing trading or leaving this? Id like to read honest opinions, not copied theories of books.

The key is to have a clear advantage, military discipline and to know when NOT to operate. But yes, it is exhausting and not for anyone.

If it's hard for you to stay positive, it's because you're probably overexploiting or using an outdated strategy. The market changes, and if you don't change with it, you're fried.

I dont think its smoke, but its a trap for many. The illusion of fast winning makes people skip the hard work of testing, analyzing and filtering inputs.

I left the intraday after 1 year burned. I now swing and do much better. Less stress, more clarity, and better decisions.

It depends on the pair you operate and the session. Its not the same to operate GBP/JPY in London as USD/CAD in the Asian session. The price stock changes a lot.

What they say makes sense. Maybe Im forcing tickets into dead sessions or relying too much on a strategy that worked months ago but no longer. What tools do you use to validate that your system is still valid?

I use backtesting every two weeks and forward testing every month. If my winrate drops by 55%, I check absolutely everything.

Honestly, if you don't have an external source of income or large capital, intraday is an elegant way to self-destruct your account. Hard, but real.

Not everything is so black. I operate DAX and Nasdaq in 1 minute graphics with very good results. But I dont follow typical patterns, I operate levels and momentum live. Thats right, its like being in a daily war.
