Thread: IBFX Problem / New Broker Question

    Hey men,

I started a micro with IBFX a few weeks back. To be frank, I was not doing all that good anyhow :--RRB- But, my account was wiped out on Monday. I was unable to link to IBFX for a period of approximately 20 minutes, during which time my brief GBP/JPY trade went horribly awry... which is why I was only going to hedge it before I moved (hadn't set a stop loss at this point). In this period I had access to other sites no issue.

The main difficulty was that I operate at work alot on my PDA/cell device. Had I been home I would have left a phone call. I could not do this. Thus there have been errors had set stop loss, at which a phone can't be readily used by me and trading. But, I'm only sharing some hand link difficulty encounter. Not a HUGE deal since it was a account and came to it, but sort of a pain 32, that I was ready to reduce it.

So... that problem was sufficient for me to need another broker when I go in for my entire $5,000 account after some more practice period. I am demoing with MIG Investments, and I've completed a demo with them. I really enjoy their spreads, their Metatrader news feed tidbits, and their selection of pairs . I have been able to findone* comments about MIG online from a person who states they exchange and have left withdraws no issue. I'm just curious if anyone around here has some comments on them?

Thank you guys! And while I'm posting... I love all of the fantastic things on this forum which has helped me out along the way. I'm still not 100% prepared to go live with a good bit of cash... but you guys have helped me to get near that point (I'm good at demoing, but dwell still hurts me... need to acquire the psych part down).

The plogy has become the bit, as you have to discover and handle your subconscious drivers, that, by definition, so you don't know about, and it stuff!

Then comes your egy, which ought to be as straightforward as possible and dependable.

Then comes your broker and datafeed, which has to be dependable and reasonably straight (or straight enough for you to work within). That's why we're going to be doing a datafeed and charts that come from a frequent source and a respectable broker. I have had that uncomfortable encounter recently when the charts have been about 30 pips off the brokerage figures, and it was. I really don't understand about MIG.

    Hello,

Sorry that I don't understand anything about MIG but I only need to comment on the cash direction u had.

When offline for 20min is sufficient to wipe out your account, you DEFINITELY need to modify your money management program before you're going live with $5000. Imagine which you need to visit the toilet or shower and then return with account totally wipe out. Even though the broker connection is important, you need to be certain that you can survive with all conditions.

(I moved for holiday for 3 months a year and left EA run on interbankfx. As I found out the computer had double two weeks without links - may be because of interbankfx and might be due to my own ISP. Even there was a 270PIPs reduction during that time, I end up with profit for this 3 weeks. Therefore, I think you need to get your cash management type out before you find a better broker.)

    Hope this helps.

    Puppy,

I concur, my trade wasn't the very best in regards to risk management. Had I put my position or dropped out I wouldn't have had an issue. Unfortunatly I had waited until a time where it had been my last hope to decide on unfortunatly that's the moment I lost my connection, a hedge position.

And to finish my story that the pair dropped to a point which would have landed me soundly in profit soon after my incident :--RRB- Lesson being... either drop out sooner or set up a hedge position before to be secure.

    Peter,

I had noticed the part about the lack of account segregation before. That is a concern for me personally... but the number of brokers actually DO seperate the money? I really don't like their support much as I said, although I understand IBFX does.

Among the articles suggests that Swiss law is very protective... so perhaps that would be a reason to not worry much about it? Prior to going in together I'd like to find out information.
