Thread: Day trading London - what to expect?

  1. #1
    Hi everyone,

This might seem a little unorthodox to the majority of threads, but what have I got to lose.

My name is Hayden, I am a 27 year old Australian trader. I been demo-ing for far longer than I'd like to admit over and have been analyzing trading for about 4-5 years now.

Recently in the previous 2 months I have gone live, with quite some achievement. 350 AUD to 1100 to be exact. 250-300% yields in two months.

Which brings me to my query, or moreso the purpose of this thread. In two months I am quitting my job and selling my company to move overseas to Amsterdam or London, to follow my dre of being a day trading during the London market. While I feel confident and have seen some success, I am not naive and realise the possibilities or realising this dream is turning into one of the 5% of traders that actually make it....

Is there ANYBODY who will provide some insight into the life span of a London trader, any suggestions regarding to physiology, daily routines. .

Or even better, any prospective contacts of traders at precisely the same position that want to community

I would appreciate any replies, whether it is a response to this thread or a PM

    Thank you beforehand.

    Hi Hayden,
First up, I admire your ambition and drive but, honestly, I believe you are angry, you have nowhere close to the experience and track record you need. I worked in London as an institutional fund manager (not as a trader but that I knew quite a few) for 20 years and saw many like you come go, and generally not in a great way. In summary, it's a tough gig.

Check out theforexforum.co.zathread Is anybody here an institutional trader? Began by Ponzi Jr.. It has some articles by guys who were appropriate traders and you'll find an idea about what it may be about.

Good luck - you're likely to need it!

Cheers marc, I appreciate your reply and yeah you are probably right about not getting the success nor the track record.

I really do have the driveway however, as you mentioned and I guess I won't ever know unless I do. I would fail miserably when I # 8217; m 35 than sit .

I will check out that thread!

EDIT: I should probably add that I am not looking to become an institutional trader, simply a day trader from my computer

Why go out balls with this?
Go to London, re-establish your job/business somewhere in England (preferable beyond the expensive costs of London), receive the advice you seek from that point.
Then commit as soon as you have all of the details yourself. Why would you make a life choice based on the opinions of a bunch?
Most importantly, speak to the people near you who will be effected by this move.

As I am to solicit advice as a demo-baller as unqualified treat it?

If you've made it, just be responsible. Show up to your own trading time well-rested, and ready. You're your own boss. Trade your edge, and repeat for the rest of your life. Best of luck to you.

The decision won't be made based on replies here, it had been created a long time ago. I'm now financially comfortable enough to float myself overseas (travelling) or based somewhere.

Purpose of this thread is too possess an insight, but I love your response

I have already travelled Europe and am well aware of the cost of living, due dilligance has been done far in advance.

Why move balls out you ask? Well if I could earn money trading and realise my dre with friends and financing, in the comfort of my own house and state to fall back , why have 90% of trades I not made it yet?

For me, I need to get out of my comfort zone, so be myself completely accountable to the stage where if I do not earn I do not eat, and perhaps just maybe this might work.

If not, monetary fall back plan in Australia is in place.
