MT5 may be an alternative for trading. But there is nothing essentially new when compared with MT4. Instead MetaQuotes place plenty of eggs imho , into it blatantly. And that is the most important reason...

The existing license holders will be happy about the news (guarantied no new competition, MetaQuotes should still enjoy communism ) and their companies will consolidate. Now that can only be helpful for the broker landscape as well as for MT4 and its own standing....
    Agreed with you...

    What do you mean the freshman is unusable? IMO the tester is much better, and optimisation on the cloud farm is with a factor of tens of thousands.

    Hmm, may be I missed something. Last time I checked the background format in MT5 encrypted and was encrypted. A tester without access to prices will be in all respect an unusable tester as you have with. On why he decided so I can link Renat's original reasoning. It's ridiculuos and still public at best.

    Of course you can use the trustworthy ~3 months of information provided by your caring broker (actually that is what Renat wants you to do, why?) But here we leave the ground of critical development/testing. Same is true for using cloud features. Are you aware of any TradeStation/NeoTicker/NinjaTrader/MultiCharts/SierraChart/TOS/AmiBroker/F4/Zorro platform user who thinks that his/her trading results might be helped by cloud testing?

    My thinking was this is common knowledge for seasoned developers/traders. Maybe my assessment was wrong. Sorry.

    Ps: You don't need to go cloud to get optimizations a thousand times faster than MT4/5. Take Zorro. Again, features to link to 3rd parties have been accessible MT4 tester and are locked/disabled in MT5 tester (DLLs in cloud).

    Hello, everybody!

    I have a problem with MT5. When using a broker that uses suffixes because of its own symbols, it is seem impossible to switch the pair by typing a symbol's name (with suffix)

    using Input quick key. Any solutions to that or walkarounds?

    MetaTrader 48217;s imminent discontinuation:
    The ambiguity and the fallout researched

    ";It is almost impossible at present for several brokerages to know whether they will have to totally start from scratch with new MetaTrader 5 platforms and one host and if so, will this fit inside the ideology of the brokerage concerning product range and marketing. By way of instance, some smaller brokers elect for MetaTrader 4 simply due to its EA compatibility so they can on-board MAM accounts in Asia. ";

    As 2017 gave way to 2018, a milestone event happened which signaled the imminent end of an age that propelled small retail brokerages and created the highly competitive generic platform environment that exists today.

    MetaQuotes, the Cyprus-based software company that generates the MetaTrader 4 retail trading platform, suddenly decided that it could discontinue the omnipresent trading port, giving rise to abundant ambiguity as to whether any level of service would be supplied to present brokers, and if so, to what level.

    On January 12 this season, http://financefeeds.com/platform-mon...s-fx-industry/ that the company will stop issuing new permits to new brokerages, even though the MetaTrader 4 platform may continue to be used by existing clients.

    Brokers that are already using the software won't be able to expand their operations on the platform, as no new servers will be issued in any way.

    At the time, FinanceFeeds took the opinion that although white tag MetaTrader 4 alternatives are thought of as the least expensive and fastest way to enter the retail market, with firms paying subscriptions to a third party provider instead of obtaining a complete permit from MetaQuotes, this comes with the drawback of less (or no) control over egic choices such as distribute and products provided, potential conflict of interests as the provider is generally a competitor, and also problem to scale the performance.
