Thread: US PPI and Retail Sales at the same time!

We'll be needing PPI and Retail Revenue!

This will surely induce confusion/whipsaw if the information does not come out inline with one another.

    How do we exchange this?

I wont Straddle this one! Rather I will await the numbers to come outside and exchange so:
I shall go LONG USD IF good PPI and good Retail Sales.
I shall go SHORT USD if bad PPI and bad Retail Sales.
Other than those, I'd stay away.

SHOULD I'm slow to decypher the numbers then, I Want a faster brain

PPI is currently becoming generally useless as a news event. If you have a look on NZD/GBP/AUD, it has limited impact. So I believe the retail ex autos is the figure.
However, be careful as the last month there was a repraisal of the USD negative -0.5% headline figure, as it was mostly due to a drop in the crude price, which have been the subject of a lot of US releases recently.

    How should we trade this?

I wont Straddle this one! Instead I will wait for the numbers to come out and trade so:
I shall go LONG USD IF great PPI and great Retail Sales.
I shall go SHORT USD if bad PPI and bad Retail Sales.
Other than those, I'd stay away.

    I totally concur BK.

That is a wait and see commerce. So I see what happens and shall stand aside to the first two minutes. Perhaps trade off the direction on the breakout from these 2 candles.

This type of sense type commerce since I see the market.

With all of these reports and amounts coming out I anticipate a whipsaw.

I'd rather have a missed chance than lost funds.

I wont Straddle this one! Instead I will await the numbers to come outside and trade accordingly:
I will go LONG USD IF good PPI and good Retail Sales.
I will go SHORT USD if bad PPI and bad Retail Sales.

When the move is powerful way, you are not going to have time to go into a transaction or decypher the numbers. It will be too late. You may have the time to enter if there is on the market about the news and that will be a risky commerce.

The launch of both PPI and retail sales at the same time isn't ideal for individuals trading the news but I am pleased to risk a little straddle.

To muddy the waters even further...I've seen anticipated m/m PPI characters ranging from -.2 upt to -.6 on different sites like FF, Bloomberg, Fxstreet, Forexnews etc..
I figure I will let the market tell me exactly what it thinks of this one.

So we have egies in place today.

It'll be interesting to see how everything works out today.

My experience with so many reports coming out is whipsaw!! But do not let me influence anybody.

Plan your trade and trade your plan.
