My question, can word this easy, once the EA/indior is applied to what I call the foundation chart, and it is usually 1 Minute --

How critical is it the 1 Minute,...
I understand you understand how to set it up. But still you will need the 1M chart, because this way you get best data feed etc.. If you're still unsure you may try to compare 2 chart with different offline chart names (M2/M3) extracted from 2 different foundation charts and see how they correlate. .

Renko additionally give us flexibility for displaying it on MT4, as it's available in 3 versions, as a script, as an indior, as an EA...
I have not actually tried this (I believe forward testing is greatest ) but it looks like it ought to work. Should you try it please post your experience...

    1. Proceed to the crogram FilesMetatraderhistory folder. You should see subfolders using
    trading servers feeds.

    2. Create a new subfolder with the name RENKO (or a name of your selection ).

    3. Proceed to one of your trading servers folders (folder must maintain historyxxxx_server) and copy these files to history/RENKO folder:

    - symbols.raw
    - symbols.sel
    - symgroups.raw
    - ticks.raw
    - 1 min info, e.g. EURUSD1.hst, GBPUSD1.hst, USDCHF1.hst, etc..

    4. Start Metatrader and log in into account but write RENKO in the server field (of course there'll be no link ).

    5. Restart Metatrader to wash its preloaded data (you should see Waiting for upgrade on all charts except 1 min).

    6. Shed Renko script 1 min chart but now pick a standard TimeFrame to generate, such as 5 to get M5 timeframe.

    7. Now you can backtest using M5 as the interval.
