Thread: Trojan infecting Oandas MT4?

  1. #1
My subscription version of Malwarebytes reported and quarantined two files this morning infected with Trojan.Agent.ED. They were...C:\Program Files (x86)\OANDA - MetaTrader\terminal.exe C:\Users\[. .your user account...]\AppData\Roaming\WebInstall\mt4dw.png Has anyone else had a similar problem on their own systems? Is it a false positive or have malicious files been unleashed upon us?

I just made the account to reply to you, and therefore don't head the account created date
I've the same issue with my 2 MT4 customers (from different brokers), from what I can see it's a MalwareBytes issue. When I Googled to see whether there were other individuals who ever had the problem that I discovered nothing, so it's safe to assume that it's a false positive. I have two firewalls and that I wasn't using some of the customers (they were not running) if they got flagged, therefore it must be a mistake from MalwareBytes. (99.9% certain). I just added the folders to the exclude list, particularly because my firewalls didn't do anything to quarantine/block terminal.exe.

Great day, I had been struck by this virus. Knocked out three distinct platforms. My Malwarebytes Anti Malware appliions, eliminated the Virus. However, not until it did the harm. Not sure what to do, start I guess. ?

Got the exact same issue in my MT4 a use for charting.

It Appears to Be a'false positive from MB.

Without it MT4 doesn't operate so it is either a false or the Russians behind Metaquotes are up to something

Yah, I am worried to the point where I will leave the MT4 executable in quarantine and will not trade on Oanda before the thing is addressed publicly. I am not a novice in the IT realm, and finding trojans embedded in trading platforms or other'. *' documents is an issue of grave concern to me. This occurred after I approved the latest upgrades from Oanda earlier this week -- onto a Windows 8 notebook and a Windows 7 workstation computer. Do your own research on trojans and what they can do to your machines. This one has no business being there...

Same issue with Go Markets. Utilizing Malwarebytes as well and could not launch MT4 since it had removed two documents including the exe one. Reinstalled MT4 and everything seems OK but no IT expert. Received no information in Go Markets so likely a Malwarebytes problem as stated by others. However, left me somewhat unnerved.

As far as I understand its kind of outdated kind of virus app so MQ's can upgrade any MT4 installation
without complete consent, adding more of their nonsense etc
whats most frightening is the rate it could upgrade old stored MT4s on separate drives
who knows whats actually in there or what could be in the future,

take appropriate actions (whatever that means)

Not to leave anybody hanging, but here is a thread which provides a resolution - https://forums.malwarebytes.org/inde...ecutable-file/. The long and short of this is,. . .file it detected was a clean file rather than malware. That reply from Malwarebytes staff.
