It's more important to figure out how much you are risking to make 100 pips. Should you risk less, yes it is sensible to give it a try. .

    Hi Akara,

The number of trades is a necessary but not a sufficient requirement to the effective testing of your EA. What you need to prefer is to trade your system through changing market configurations i.e. distinct volatility conditions. It takes more time but will tell you exactly what you could expect from the EA at a trending, bursting or range-bound market.

Also, try to distance yourself from the daily pip objective. It will take your attention away from the essential features you need to work on. Before making your system a winner, then try not to make it a loser. Take it from there and then optimize it as much as possible within the three distinct market configs which I cited previously. Just beware of overfitting when backtesting.

To all you guys who are seemingly in search of a holy grail EA.
Even with my small experience I can assure you there is no such thing.
It is not to say that there aren't people making money trading automatically. I am certain that there are plenty of them. But trading utilizing EAs if it is to succeed (in which I mean - to be able to bring consistent profits over a long period of time) requires as much market wisdom and trading expertise because manual trading.

Right on the money, IMO. One of the best posts I've read in the Rookie forum for quite a very long moment.

And then, even after you have the market knowledge and trading expertise, you need to reduce your egy to a mechanical approximation, so that it may be coded as programmable rules.

I'll just chime in and add my vote. There's no single EA that will work consistently for you, making cash on a daily basis.

Automated trading may unquestionably be a part of a prosperous trading setup, but statistical borders come and go. A holy grail EA can work for a little while but will stop working eventually and then what will you do?

Every day new people come to this website after downloading MetaTrader and learning how to use this platform. Many of these noobs think that trading is exactly the identical thing as searching for somebody else's profitable EA and using it to get rich.

No wonder merchandise such as Fap Turbo continue to be offered for sale; there are literally hundreds of gullible noobs appearing every day.

I think that it would take a simple experiment to set right any man (or girl) who thinks he can find an EA that'll make him whatever amount of pips daily (allow it to be even 5) with no effort and competent supervision.
Just ask the person to go to the Trading Systems forum department at theforexforum.co.za(which in my own humble opinion is the best such on the net) and challenge him to navigate the hundreds of great egies there and try and find one, which can be traded at a purely mechanical fashion, with no discretion on part of the trader. Let him find just one.

So if you are using MT4, I recommend you test out the EA, functions good by me
