Thread: (binned per thread starters request) Finally Making money?

7 years in this Foreign Exchange and commodities messy journey, considering that I took several long breaks.

I moved from almost gaming to long term profitability.

Lost $5-7k entire for a single reason: I thought that gaming was poor and I was searching for long term profitability.

I have been testing a lot of stuff during this season and a half and guess what, I discovered that long term profitability and gaming can get along quite nicely. . IF

    1 I've a fantastic withdrawal egy

2 I am able to optimize returns over the shortest amount of time.

I discovered that if I earn at least 10% daily, or -100percent weekly I feel satisfied, as it takes too long I believe I am wasting time and I mess up with this plan.

Let's see if I can get it right

I have just put in what could be called a withdrawal principle - When unrealised profit reaches 25%, close all positions.

Is this what you mean by withdrawal?

Yes I basket close all positions at fixed gain. My method of trading is straightforward and mechanical, without the smallest discretionary intervention.

Yet what I meant is that I don't let it run forever hoping to make a thousand

I saw a man turning $300 into $40k or anything like this, then discard it all... what the...?

So, I'm going trade just 1 account and reveal the progress as the beginning, as those who reveal their stats once they made money are not worth some consideration.

Let us show everything, otherwise where's the fun?

My account will be financed soon, in the meantime you can admire the MESS I made on it lol

Just to clarify, I don't exchange all pairs simultaneously like in the timeless basket trading. That won't work in the long term as far as I understand.

The challenge is to win against the transaction costs, at least statistically.

When I see a curve like this over a 18 years period with 3 pips of disperse, then I am happy and I move with the forwardtest.

1 thing that I learned is to backtest everything which comes to mind BEFORE going live. If I find something much better while I'm trading, I have to destroy that account and make a new deposit.

Said I had been about to make my deposit but I said to myself wait a bit more. In fact I was correct, I already found a new egy that works better.

Readyfor the mess.. Ehm I am ready to make money.

Jokes apart, I am very serious about this, even though I have no clear definition of trading.

    a hobby ? A game? A tool? A business?

That I really like it more than anything else, in fact almost all I do in my spare time is analyzing historic information lol

Live trading isn't really enjoyable. The important is to deal with it with diligence, know your flaws (which could be strengths) and behave accordingly.

That is my final and now I believe the FINAL plan. I am not going to change it for the rest of my life, I swear MOM. So I figure the fun is finished.

because up to now I have been testing and shedding. As simple as that.

Thanks, I'll require a good dose of luck really.

Notice that nobody talks about luck, but as they win out of pure chance they are so joyful... strange contradictions in your mind.

What an UGLY beginning, three must be something very, very wrong with me, as I already ended up averaging down losers and trading counter tendency / ignoring breakouts.

I had a little of intellingence to stop and reverse the winners, but I got lucky, since the lotsize was far too big. Now I am hoping to recover the harm and start all over with a NEW plan (sorry mom but I can not help it).
