Thread: Tick Database Version 2

  1. #21
I understand this is an old thread but I guessed that the question is best asked here rather than a new one. I followed the directions here:

    http://eareview.net/tick-data

I utilized DukasCopier to get ticks and secret to CSV. Then I used jforex2fxt to convert CSV into HST and FXT files.

But this is the chart after I closed down and transferred HST files to history folder. This doesn't look right.

Does this look ok to everyone else?

If you used Dukascopier to get your tick info then you want to use the Dukascopy2FXT script to do the switching to HST and FXT files. Likewise if you used Dukascopy's Jforex platform to download the data then you utilize the Jforex script to do the converting. Could be your problem.

    cheers,

    murray.

Interesting but it did not work. But thanks for trying.

    Hi,

I downloaded EURUSD ticks data from Dukascopy with JForex platform.

The consequent csv file was copied to specialists / record of this MT4 platform.

Tried to use JForex2FXT script to do the conversion, but get the error message can't open file.

I read in Birt's EA review this might be a result of decimal separator being a comma rather than a dot. The remedy was designed to change the locale to English locale by visiting Control panel gt;Language and Region.

But my locale is English, why is the csv file I downloaded includes a comma decimal separator instead of a dot??

    Can anyone please assist.

    Thank you in advance.

    Cheers,
    Pierre

Im using DukasCopier v0.4 to download encode data from Dukascopy and convert it into CSV. Now is it possible to import this information into MySQL? What field types should I use for the

Date Time, Bid, Ask, Bid Vol, Ask Vol

    ??

That the date/time from the dukascopy is not the typical date/time area in MySQL. Anyone else doing so?

    Hey all,
First off, this is a great thread, happy I came across it as I've recently begun playing around with database design. As a rookie trader I think designing a tick database might be a nice challenge.
Now to the issue at hand, I saw box support was cited, but as @ noted that is an easy file storage support and it appears that he needs a more robust database which can be queried.
As for database hosting- As you noticed that RDS (as Rabid advoed ) is somewhat pricey for you, maybe you ought to check into various database options which are available on the market today. There are database services that charge by throughput and for example, which could be a suitable choice for you. There are lots of alternatives, depending upon your database type. For instance, if you've got a MySQL DB you can attempt http://xeround.com/, or when you've got a PostgreSQL DB then check out http://enterprisedb.com/ for example.

    Hello men,
If anybody is interested I've coded a DLL which may be used from any MQL4 script/EA to browse data from database or write data to it (insert data, create tables, etc.)
This library is called PostgreMQL4 and works only with PostgreSQL database server. Follow the link and find additional information: https://github.com//postgremql4
There you'll also find an EA which uses this DLL to store incoming ticks into the DB.
