Thread: Forex gambling?

  1. #21
I don't mean to begin a flame war here, but I have been performing some cash management clinic, as well as studying the art of technical analysis plus I say Forex is far out of gambling. Why? For a couple of factors. Number 1: Technical analysis is not anything more than plogy, so it is the interruptation of greed and fear, rather than some random numbers match. Technical analysis isn't a random act of gambling, as there are definate patterns to the plogy of buying and selling. Sure, technical analysis isn't an specific science....but niether is plogy, yet nobody calls plogy gambling.

Once more, I don't mean to start a flame war, but to put it bluntly, the title of the thread reminds me of this controversery using firearms. Are you really gonna blame your self, or are you wanna blame THE GUN for blowing your OWN brains out? It seems to me that only ametures blame their loss and pain to the Forex, while the professionals accept FULL responsibility for their own mistakes. . .learn from them. . .and go on to make millions. It is that same old nasty trait the bad absence, but the wealthy seem to have an abdue of, it is called PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY.

If you're trading large relevant to how big your account you're betting. If you're managing your money properly and really have a skill set (have become good at technical analysis and also have a technique that provides you with an edge) than it is not really betting in the casino feel. It is more about taking calculated risks and using your edge to extract money out of those markets, which btw, are the largest businesses in the world. Trillions each day in forex, not just because people are betting, but since it's the largest business in the world too.

People who say forex is betting are ideal for themselves. You can gamble in forex. Say, you throw a coin and say heads will imply that I open a BUY trade on the euro/dollar, tails will be SELL euro/dollar. A fantastic explanation here http://www.forexbeginning.com/analys...-forex-trading

Many risk-return options are sometimes referred to colloquially as betting. Whether this vocabulary is acceptable is a matter of discussion:

Personally I would say forex speculation is more or less like gambling.

The thread back in 2006 mentioned banks gambling with our cash. Well, there can be an element of that but banks trade currency for industrial customers which is their principal company and produces a market structure. This connection is very enlightening: http://www.babypips.com/school/presc...structure.html

Of course not, Foreign Exchange trading isn't gaming, but the work and not so simple. It just seems there is nothing else to do. You want skills, some knowledge, and expertise.

Forex isn't gambling but people often use it as gambling and wind up losing. Something more close to gambling I will say it is binary choices.
