Hello - well this thread initially concentrated on the Alpari UK Ltd bankruptcy in January 2015, and the subsequent claims procedure. Just to say that after two decades and 10 weeks of constant pushing, I eventually obtained full repayment of my promised amount. Not that I would not have been paid at some stage without compelling. Just that I would not have any idea when that could happen to be.

My main problem was that my funding account was a US one and does not have a Swift code. Shouldn't have been a issue however FSCS acting on my behalf had designed its automated payout method to operate only on Swifts. That shouldn't have been a problem (intended manual payments could be mandatory), however. . .it shoved me into the back of the queue and left me invisible. Eventually I found a method of using pressure and it worked. However, the number of people I dealt with....the inconsistent replies....the quantity of mails....the quantity of phonecalls.

I understand there were lots of individuals with sub-50 dollar accounts who were not compensated. But believe me, I would have gladly surrendered that number rather than go through exactly what I did. There was a side-benefit though for me personally - I now know a lot about what happens during a bankruptcy including how segregated accounts really work, and exactly what the actual risks are. Make no mistake, regardless of what you hear, they do work....with businesses that are in the FCA and....comply together with the regulations. Alpari UK did comply. And FCA have toughened up so that loopholes that might have been exploited by less scrupulous FCA-registered Currency Market companies were closed. Of course there'll always be risks in this sport however well controlled. But I'd still put money in an FCA-registered company in the UK before most other countries.

Only my view which I wished to share if it has some worth for others.

Just found this thread. I thought to not do some more research on Alpari when a few said their money was not paid as it got burst in January 2015. I went to get a seminar organized by a broker,Hot Forex and I asked the question that If your money or other brokers' is kept in a segregated account, why was Alpari not able to cover its clients because 2015? Surprisingly, from among us the attendees, 1 trader awakened and said Alpari has paid his money. That inflamed my appetite again for Alpari. Great to find the thread.

Well more accurately, Alpari abided by FCA regulations regarding customer funds in segregated accounts. That meant that customer funds except for a rather modest amount in actual transactions at the time it crashed were at the collective customer segregated account. The payout was actually acting as the adminior. Had Alpari not been abiding by the regulations e.g. not immediately putting client funds back in the segregated fund immediately after transactions are closed, or simply not putting it all back for different reasons, then the segregated account of course might have been a lot less than it needs to, and the payout to customers would also have been a lot less. So that is why it's important to study so far as possible the ïntegrity of this FX company and to make sure that it's regulated by a competent body such as the UKs FCA. I don't know anything about the new Alpari, but the very first thing I'd do is check who regulates it and whether or not it has infringed some of the regulations. That info is available from the FCA (when Alpari is enrolled using FCA).

    Hi Khan,

their only obligation acording to MiFiDII regulation would be to execute your SL order at best price on hand. And as you may be aware, the best price available to execute your SL order was exactly as you say way far from your stop loss. So they didn't break the law nor do not have to take any responsibility.
