Thread: FX Vs Pepperstone? True STP/ECN Brokers? Whos better?

  1. #1
Hello guys I am currently with a broker who I recently discovered is a working desk broker (market maker) and not a true ECN/STP broker. Looking back I can see this is accurate with their SL search, spread manipulation and very substantial slippage a times. I am not happy about this and I spent the weekend looking for a different broker. I have narrowed down my search to Fx and Pepperstone. Both advertise themselves as true ECN/STP brokers and supply similar account options.

Fx delivers a normal STP account and a Raw ECN account, and both look pretty good to me. Pepperstone offers their Edge standard STP account and then additionally a searchable spread ECN account. From what I could see both offers comparable STP and ECN accounts with comparable options.

has a higher minimum deposit ($500) but costs less commission ($3) on their ECN accounts. Pepperstone has a lower minimum deposit ($200) but has a slightly higher commission ($3.5) on their ECN account. Both STP accounts seem the same. My questions is for all those who have accounts with both of these brokers, what your feedback on them? Positive or negative?

Is the conventional STP account good enough or would the uncooked ECN account be a better choice? Which broker could you go for?

    Thanks I love your feedback.

Most retail brokers are market manufacturers one way or another.
There is absolutely not any way to avoid it I am afraid.

Choose a broker with a fantastic reputation and be sure that they use good banks for their clients deposit.
If the bank goes into default it doesn't matter if you use a market maker or not.
From those 2 I would pick Pepperstone, only since I have no personal experience with .

Ps. Brokers really don't care about little accounts and quit running for a few bucks, discontinue running is a natural process of trading because stops constantly are in logical places and banks etc need the liquidity out of these stops to get in and out of the large positions.
Slippage and poor performance on the other hand can be a indiion of using a poor broker.

I have experience with the two brokers. I would prefer over Pepperstone. However GoMarkets Leaves equally for dead.

Thank you for the comments. Both seem like both alternatives and I'm also leaning towards Pepperstone but that I still have more research to do. Thanks.

Thanks for your answer. What's your reasoning in choosing over Pepperstone?

I'll take a look at GoMarkets, I haven't heard of these before. Do they offer true ECN/STP accounts?

GoMarkets is market maker, so it is rather terrible choice. Try out IC and Pepperstone Markets, honest ECN brokers with spreads.

I haven't found this to be a problem. Low slippage. Tight spreads, no SL hunting, What more can you ask for. ?
