Thread: NinjaTrader has screwed up big time!

The NinjaTrader (NT) forums today are extremely active!

A few days ago, NT traders using a Zen-Fire statistics feed have been told they HAD to close their trades (whether in profit or loss) and update to a new variant of NinjaTrader.

However, what they weren't told was that this new variant wasn't properly tested, was full of bugs and barely worked.

At the cut-off point when everybody was made to switch over to the new variant and problems and snags were to be anticipated, guess what?! The support desk was closed. Users were confident that all would be repaired by the time markets opened on Sunday night (GMT).

Considers that nothing was fixed. The markets are available, NT traders are yelling blue murder and the parties haven't come forward to acknowledge that the mistakes or offer some assurances of a quick resolution. People are not able to link, when they do join they get disconnected randomly, egies they have setup are not functioning, data is messed up and wrong figures are coming through the feed (10X the number they should be!) , charts have reverted to previous contract periods, orders are going haywire and people are losing money ....

If anybody is contemplating NinjaTrader - please reconsider!

I agree, it has always been very dependable for me. But there are a lot of reasons not to use Metatrader. For starters, it is free.

So, although the platform/broker/feed/implementation engine world is a minefield, I'm likely to continue in navigating it and finding a solution which is right for me. I could really use the data that one gets in a feed.

In the meanwhile and until I've got something worked out, I'm using Metatrader. I will tell you though that moving back to Metatrader is similar to trading with one hand behind my back. How do I describe it? Hmm. Think about you generally trade on a 15M chart. Now I take away your 15M chart and expect you to perform the same 15M trading but using a D1 or H4 chart instead. That is a bit like how I feel going back to MT.

There are lots of reasons to avoid MT and there are numerous threads covering this topic. The something which may be said in favour of MT4 - despite the dearth of volume/L2 data, the fact that it functions in favour of the dealer rather than trader, the limitations and fruions of its programming environment etc - is that it is free. I don't find that one also as adequate excuse for returning to MT.

Time to test out Trade Station, Multi Charts etc.. I'm not convinced that moving from Zen Fire to a data provider that is different is enough. NinjaTrader itself can't be reliable if they allow such buggy third party integration.

You guys are right, what and who can we trust?

For one, don't trust a platform your broker is currently paying!

NinjaTrader, Trade Station, Multicharts, ProTrader and many others are well recognized platforms. With each of them you have a choice of different data suppliers. The one thing I can say is that you should spend sufficient time doing your reading and research reviews.

I, for one, heartily advise that you avoid using NinjaTrader with ZenFire (or any broker using ZenFire). Mirus, the firm supporting ZenFire, has demoned not only that it screws up major time but it does not acknowledge it to users and pretends there's no problem. Well, it kept until it could not be prevented any more pretending. Then they didn't have the balls to face users and answer questions. They http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ad.php?t=62826 and refused to talk to anyone.
