Thread: FXCMs quotAT BESTquot For News

FXCM is like hit or miss. You may get execution once. In a month it for me personally. There are other brokers (like Oanda, ACM) in which it is possible to get better performance, but the deviation from expectation needs to be substantial to make a good profit from spike trading when the spread is big.

I concur with the last comment about deviations needing to become large. I guess you could always get filled on a spike so long as you're willing to take whatever price, but unless the deviation is there, then you can get hosed (that has happened to me too).

I do not think I'm doing anything differently, except possibly taking a bigger risk with limit orders (i.e. setting orders far enough away from market to receive filled). But there's the downside of the mentioned.

Anyhow, no magic bullet here or magic broker; did not mean to imply there was such as anything, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

But best wishes to everyone however you may be trading...

FXCMs new platform has really made it tougher to get trading. I just get stuffed 1 in 10 times now and usually only on a terrible trade that goes against me as soon as I get loaded.

This is another enjoyable story about FXCM. Among the few times I had been filled at a good spot on a news spike I had been up about 30 pips. I got an error when I attempted to close the position. I then called FXCM trade desk and they weren't able to close it either. THEY PUT ME ON HOLD for 7 minutes and finally closed my position. Me shut out at 8 pips profit.

I called to complain and get blamed for the 22 pips that they caused me and you can guess how that went.... I hate FXCM!

    Hey Guys

I understand most of us look (most of us!) pissed with FXCM. I have had my moments too, believe me! I believe it would be a fantastic idea if we brain storm and operate with each other to determine what brokers are actually great for news trading. I have spent many hours exploring brokers, emailing them talking together over the telephone.

My difficulty here in BC, Canada, is that I am limited to brokers I can use here; mad BC trading rules. I understand ACM is an alternative in which you WILL get filled, though I really do understand spreads can go as wide as 25 pips. Oanda is no different really. I hear Interbank FX is OK, however is one of the brokers I can't use here in BC. I have yet to come across a broker that is ideal for my style of trading (news), although to be realistic, there really isn't one; we just have to discover the one which best fits our criteria. Any else have any comments ?

Anybody who selects FXCM should have expectation on their service!!! that is poor and irresponsible Their managed fund is just a mess, and they keep hiding and decorating its own results.
