View Full Version : Question about Trailing Step

22:00,
Doesn't the monitoring step work in conjunction with the monitoring stop? Just like in the event that you place the trailing measure to 100 pips once you are up 100 pips then your trailing stop kicks in? Like when the trailing stop is 25 pips once you are up 100 pips a 25 pip trailing stop is created? Since I have an EA using a monitoring step / stop and it doesn't appear to work correctly. The monitoring stop kicks in before the trailing step is met. I thought maybe it was the decimal point difficulty 3 versus 5 so I added an extra 0 to the monitoring measure and it prevented the monitoring stop from opening.

3 individuals have responded and no one has attempted to provide an answer. Why are you all even replying? Maybe you should read what I wrote. I feel the trailing step pertains to thestep worth i.e. after the trailing stop is activated it moves in steps by the value provided. That's why your values are backward.
Of course if it was initially in Russian it might mean something else.

quote Appears to be on topic to me. There are a lot of different terms for monitoring stop functions. For instance I've not come across a monitoring step, but I have heard of a jumping stop which is most likely the same thing. Though it could be that the trailing step refers to the distance between the trailing stop jumps., therefore a value of say 5 pips may signify the it moves in 5 pip increments. Enlighten me. I will not be in favor of setting stop loss and trailing stop is about stopping the trade, can somebody formulate an EA that simply trails the profit.

3 people have replied and no one has even attempted to give a response. Why are you even replying? You seem to be impatient and rude, traders are generous and kind enough to attend queries out of their great gesture and not compulsion.

quote How about you stay on the subject of the thread and not derail it with a different topic. I am asking about trailing measure performance, not trailing start. Seems to be on topic to me.

there are so many ways employ trailings. Without know any particulars. Maybe your trailing beginning means, it begin monitoring following x ammount of pips in profit, moving stop lower or higher, depends direction of trade. Does the trailing step work in conjunction with the trailing stop? Just like in case you place the trailing measure to 100 pips after you're up 100 pips then your trailing stop falls in? Like when the trailing stop is 25 pips after you're up 100 pips a 25 pip trailing stop is made? Since I've an EA using a trailing step / stop and it does not appear to work correctly. The trailing stop kicks in before the trailing step is fulfilled. I thought maybe it was the decimal point difficulty 3 versus 5 so that I added an extra 0 to the trailing measure and it averted the trailing stop... I am having the very same issues with EA trailing,no matter watever setting I use,the outcome is exactly the same,it seems like these EAs are fooling us and neglecting us.please some one correct me or add into definition of trailing stop concept.take profit is whateveer we presume the profit will be and the trailing stop is how far we're prepared to let go of when the market goes against usand trailing step triggers when tp amount and step is added(market is moving in our favor right)? In my EA there's an alternative of trailing start too,I wonder what's trailing start?
