View Full Version : Is it worth learning if I keep losing?

Hello everyone. I have been studying trading for 8 months. I have read books, I have done courses, I have tried demo and real. But I keep losing. Not much, because I use risk management, but I already start to enter existential doubt: is it worth continuing if I do not see consistent results? Has anyone else happened to this? What did they do?

If you haven't lost an account yet, technically you're still a rookie.

I was the same as you. It took me almost 3 years to stop losing, and another 2 years to be constant. Is it worth it? Only if you are willing to pay the price: time, frustration and humility.

You know what's not worth it? Complaining every time the market doesn't give you the reason. This isn't an easy money-making machine, it's a brutal mirror of your decisions.
Brother, if after 8 months you dont see results, what happens is that you are learning. The problem is to believe that 8 months is a lot. How long did you learn to talk, write and drive? This is the same or more complex.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're probably overestimating what you've learned and underestimating what you don't know yet.

It also happened to me. I was about to give up everything, but a friend trader told me: When youre closer to surrendering, youre closer to understanding something that will change your operation. I was right.

Here the difference is your ability to adapt. If you do the same thing every day and expect different results, you are fooling yourself. Are you checking your mistakes? Do you have daily trading?
What if instead of trying alone, you seek a mentor or join a serious community? I improved a lot just by having someone to contrast ideas and mistakes with.

Look, the truth is, the market doesn't owe anybody anything. If you're not ready, it's gonna get you out of the game. It's not about deserve it, it's about understanding the rules of the game and using them for you.

And what did you expect in less than a year? There are professional traders with 10 years of experience who still have bad months. This is not linear, nor fair. It is simply competitive.

I stopped losing when I stopped trying to win money and started focusing on executing well. Paradoxic, but real. The rest came alone.

The one who thinks of giving up at 8 months was never really engaged. Its not personal, its a cruel industry. Ask yourself if this is really for you. Because its not for everyone.

I'm glad you're opening this kind of thread. You need more honest people. Many show only the good. But we all go through this stage.

If you need to see results now, this is not the way. But if you can tolerate uncertainty, process and frustration, then yes... it is worth it. Because there is nothing like living by your judgment and your decisions.

First of all, I want to tell you that your doubt is valid and very common. Many of us who started on this path have felt that we are not moving forward. Trading is not just technical analysis or risk management. It is also mentality, patience, self-knowledge and adaptation. Most people who fail in this business do not do it for lack of strategy, but for lack of emotional consistency and commitment to a process that has no guarantees in the short term. Second, you must understand that 8 months is nothing in terms of professional development. In any other profession, one studies years before having a decent salary. Here, people expect results in months. Dont be fooled by the promise of fast money. The market doesnt reward the urgency or anxiety. Premia who knows how to wait, observe, learn and adapt without giving up. Third, ask yourself this question honestly: are you learning from your mistakes? Do you have a daily trading where you write down every entry, your reason, your exit, your impulses? If you dont have that, yout operate blindly. You cant improve what you dont measure. The real progress comes from analyzing, not just from operating. Fourth, you dont just any mistakes.

What a good reading! I read it twice and wrote down several ideas to apply them now.
But if it takes 10 years to live from this, wouldn't it be better to look for another safer profession?
I'm 3 years old and not yet profitable. Am I a lost case?
