I use IC Markets and, in general, I am quite happy with the Spreads, although they vary according to the session. In GBPUSD, they usually around 0.7-0.9 in European schedule and can become as low as 0.5 in the Asian session. However, I have noticed some Slippage in high volatility hours. If that worries you, maybe this is not the ideal broker for you.On the other hand, they offer ECN accounts that are quite good. The commissions are competitive, but if you operate with high volumes, they will hurt in the long term.Of course, if you compare IC Markets with the typical Market Makers, you will see that transparency in its operations is superior. That is something that at least gives me more confidence.

I have tried activated, and although it has good spreads, the costs do not end up being as low as it seems.During high -activity sessions, the Spread in Eurusd can become as low as 0.6, but then you find that the commissions are not the most competitive, especially if you operate with smaller lots.I have also had some bad experiences with its execution, sometimes it seems that everything is going well and suddenly the operation is "frozen."If you are looking for something reliable and without surprises, I recommend you investigate active before throwing yourself with them.I do not say they are bad, but the experience can be something frustrating for more active traders or with speed expectations in the market. It is not for everyone, so keep in mind these types of details if you are considering this broker.
The truth, I do not understand how there are still traders that fall in the brokers with fixed spats. In a market like the Forex, where volatility constantly changes, a fixed spread only benefits the broker, not you.I have seen many platforms offering fixed spats only so that, at the time of truth, you cannot close a position because the broker is "adjusting" the price. If you really want transparency, search Brokers ECN.Yes, their spreads vary, but at least there are no unpleasant surprises in volatility hours.I prefer to pay a little more in certain conditions than to be at the mercy of a market maker who adjusts everything to its own benefit.

With LMAX I have had a fairly solid experience. It is not the most economical broker, but the quality of execution and low latency are worth every penny, especially for someone who does scalping like me.In Eurusd I usually obtain 0.2-0.3, which is incredible compared to other brokers. The execution is quick and rarely I see significant slippage. However, the account requires a high initial deposit and, if you are a trader with low capital, it may not be the best.Lmax is more thought for professionals than for retail traders. But if you have the capital and you care about quality, then I think you will like the experience. It is worth every euro inverted.

For those who insist on using Metatrader 4, I recommend that you think twice.Although MT4 is popular and easy to use, brokers take advantage of their limitations to apply tactics such as slippage or errors when closing positions.Activities, for example, does not stand out precisely because of the speed in MT4, and that affects high frequency scalping or trading.I went to Ctrader and the difference is remarkable. The execution is much cleaner and more accurate, in addition to the brokers usually have less space to manipulate the platform.I know that changing is an effort, but if you are seriously with trading, consider giving a more advanced platform a chance.
Eye with regulated brokers outside of Europe.Regulation may sound good on paper, but practice is another story.IC Markets, for example, is based in Australia and although the ASIC is reliable, its regulation is not as strict as FCA.This means that the broker can afford practices that would be badly seen in Europe. In the end, everything depends on what you are willing to tolerate. If you are an experienced trader and you know how to handle risks, IC Markets can work for you.But if you are new and you need a solid regulation, it is better to look for options within the EU.Customer protection in Europe is much higher, and for some, that is a decisive factor.
Why complicate so much looking for the lowest spred? In the end, most brokers are handled with similar ranges, and the important thing is that you have a stable platform and a good execution.I have used Pepperstone for years, and although its Spreads in GBPUSD are not always the lowest, I rarely have problems with its execution. If you have to constantly worry about the spred, your strategy may need adjustments.Sometimes it is better to choose a broker that gives you a consistent execution, instead of changing broker just for a few tenths in the spred.
If you are looking for a more economical option, test with ECN types.Although you pay commissions, the spred in pairs like Eurusd can be as low as 0.1 in the best trading hours.I have tried IC Markets and LMAX and both offer good transparency in their operations and rapid execution, although LMAX is more expensive in terms of initial deposit. The problem of many traders is that they focus only on the spreads and forget the other costs.A low spred with high commissions in the end you get the same.So choose well depending on your real needs and not just from the spred.

Personally, I distrust any broker that is promoted as the "cheapest."This generally means that they sacrifice something, either as execution, customer service or transparency.I prefer to spend a little more and be certain that I am with a regulated and reliable broker, even if that implies higher spreads. If you are not careful, the cost of a bad broker can be much greater than a few tenths of PIP in the Spread. You have to see the complete panorama and make sure that, when a critical moment comes in the market, the broker is up to the circumstances.
I also use activated, but I have found feelings.Their Spreads in Eurusd are competitive, and the platform is quite stable. However, in moments of high volatility, the Slippage is notorious, and the execution can become frustrating if you are operating in short periods. In my case, I have found a kind of balance, although sometimes I think of changing a broker with better conditions in moments of market peaks. If you do the calmer trading, it may work well; But if you are one of those who operate in volatility peaks, look for something more robust.

To all those who are looking for brokers with low spreds: remember that cheap is expensive.IC Markets, for example, offers low -theory spreads, but in critical moments I have seen Slippage that makes the "low low" lose all the meaning. So my recommendation is that you try several brokers in a demo account before depositing. What matters is not only the spred, but the consistency and reliability in execution.A low spred is of no use if you want to close an operation every time you have problems.
If you are a high frequency trader, you need a broker with instantaneous execution and without latency. In my experience, Brokers such as LMAX and Darwinex offer good conditions for Scalpers, although they require a larger deposit to the average. As for Esprads, Lmax offers in Eurusd of 0.3 and in GBPUSD of 0.8, but it depends a lot on the session. If you have capital and you are looking for seriousness, both brokers are an excellent option. They do not have retail brokers restrictions and orders are executed quickly. In the long term, it is an investment that is worth it if you can afford it.

I am surprised to see so many traders still worried only about the Spread. It's okay to look for good costs, but remember that a serious broker is not defined just because of that.Customer support, regulation and execution are equally important. It is not just about getting a spread of 0.5, but that the broker responds when you need it most.If you are looking for the "perfect broker", I regret disappointing, but that does not exist. The best thing is to find one that fits your trading style and your expectations in general.
