I am looking to subscribe to a VPS plan to execute an EA in MT4.I will only operate during the Training Session in the United Kingdom and work with the 8 main currencies.I currently live in Vancouver, Canada. My question is whether I should position my VPS in New York, USA, or in London, the United Kingdom.During the London session, will there be a difference in the availability of liquidity between the two locations? Will brokers with NYC servers have less access to liquidity in that session?I know that brokers like Pepperstone (with whom I currently operate

I found this information in a VPS provider that can clarify my question a bit.The currency market is actually divided into two levels: the interbank market and the non -interbank FX market.Large banks and market -creating signatures provide quotes for the non -interbank FX.They have an orders book, which is positioned long or short when executing non -interbank orders. Each liquidity supplier has a specific level for the net position of each pair of currencies. When this level is reached, the supplier adjusts its exhibition in the interbank market, operating mainly in ICAP EBS or the Reuters negotiation system. If the prices of retail orders are worse than those of ICAP EBS and Reuters, liquidity suppliers may suffer losses. Therefore, these two systems function as reference prices for liquidity suppliers.London is a unique point for execution in Forex, since there are the coincidence engines of ICAP EBS and Reuters. The proximity to these coincidence engines allows to obtain reference prices with the lowest possible delay, something crucial for liquidity in the non -interbank FX.In fact, the Equinix LD4 data center is considered the best place in this regard, and many liquidity suppliers send their contributions from there. It is no coincidence that ULXXAFX VPS and the dedicated servers of ULXXAFX are in London, at the Equinix LD4 data center .

Hi Bigsteely, Equinix LD4 is undoubtedly one of the best locations for Forex trading.Between the two locations it is difficult to decide, since some prefer to be in NY4 in the hourLondon.Connect to all FX platforms you mentioned can be expensive, since Equinix charges a lot for cross connections, although you may be looking for something that allows you access to all these options.

I sincerely believe that your main problem will be the quality of the execution of the MT4 platform itself. If you really plan to use self -trading bots, I would recommend changing to another platform.Ctrader would already be an improvement in my opinion.

From my point of view, the ideal would be to select a VPS provider located as close as possible to your broker servers.

If your broker already freezes in moments of high volatility, changing from VPs to London will not solve the root problem. It's like putting a formula 1 engine in an old car.You can reduce latency with change, but if the broker cannot handle the charge of orders, it will use.I think it would be best to consider a more robust platform or broker than really support activity peaks in the London session. From experience I will tell you that many brokers claim to have good execution in NYC, but when the pressure increases, they fail.An alternative is to look for brokers who have servers in London from the beginning, as you mentioned with Darwinex. But, eye, I do not promise you that there is no LAG;That also depends on the configuration of your EA.

I tell you with all sincerity: if you are looking for speed in the European session, London is your option.NYC is useful in American schedules, but the proximity to infrastructure in London greatly improves execution in the United Kingdom session. If you are willing to pay a VPS in Equinix LD4, the latency change can be noticed. But be careful, it also depends on how much volume operates and the size of the orders. If you handle an EA with constant orders, any small latency difference can benefit you.But if you operate less, then you may not notice so much change as you can.Evaluate well before spending in London.

If you are willing to test another platform, Ctrader already has an advantage over MT4 in terms of stability and execution precision. The location of your VPS does not matter so much if your broker and your platform do not support the load of orders in high -activity schedules.I do not want to be negative, but many traders are frustrated when they see that their platform collapses at important times. The investment in a quality VPS is important, yes, but it will not solve all the problems.I recommend, first, evaluate how much the latency and load of your current broker affects your results.Sometimes, it is best to simply migrate to a broker that offers more favorable conditions in London.

Honestly, changing a VPS in London is a good idea only if you constantly operate in the United Kingdom session. If you do it for trying or thinking that you will solve all your execution problems, you will disappoint. Many NYC brokers can maintain stability, but performance depends more on them than your VPS.To maximize the performance of an EA in a specific session, the ideal is to make your whole environment optimized for that time: broker, platform and VPS.Equinix LD4 is excellent for London, but remember that costs can be high, and investment return is relative to the volume and type of trading you do.

London prices are no joke.Keep in mind that Colocation services, especially in Equinix LD4, are not cheap and, sometimes, what you earn in latency in costs. If you really believe that changing location will improve your results, go ahead, but make sure the broker is also worth it.Because, in the end, it will help you to have the VPS faster if your broker does not have good execution during the European session.London quality suppliers usually offer improvements, yes, but extra costs can be very high, and perhaps only notes differences in very specific conditions.
I understand you, freezing in the London session can be frustrating. But keep in mind that the stability of execution not only depends on the location of the VPS, but on the quality of the broker and the platform. In many cases, changing a platform as Ctrader, which has more optimized servers for Europe, can be enough to see an improvement. Now, if you have considerable capital and want the minimum latency, a VPS in London would not be bad.Just make sure the change really contributes to your strategy.Remember that each change has a cost, and sometimes it is more efficient to simply try another broker that supports the European session from NYC well.

I don't want to discourage you, but VPS expectations can be too high. The currency market moves in milliseconds, and even if you approach London, that will not change the way your broker processes orders. If your broker fails in the London session, it is likely to have infrastructure problems, and that is not fixed with the VPS.You could do a quick test with demo accounts in brokers with servers in London, to see if you really notice a significant difference. And if you think it is a necessary change, then, go for Equinix LD4.But be careful not to wait miracles. In the end, the platform and the broker matter more than the VPS.
If you are in Vancouver, I understand that the ping between your VPS in NYC and the broker should be low. Now, for the London session, a VPS in Equinix LD4 could offer you a more direct connection to the main liquidity suppliers. But remember that the real change you will see only in moments of much activity.Of course, with a VPS in London and a broker in NY you can not see so much difference in regular days.Try first with a demo account in a broker in London and evaluate performance. You could save the complete change to VPS if you realize that the difference is not significant.

It is true that London has the best infrastructure for the FX market, but in my experience, many traders exaggerate the difference that marks.Changing VPS to London can reduce latency, yes, but if your broker has congested servers in NYC, it will not improve in London either.Broker's infrastructure matters more than it seems.Think about latency as a secondary factor if the volume of your operations is low.Only if you operate a lot in the London session, it is worth that extra effort and the cost.If not, the difference will be diluted and you will only be paying more without a radical change.
I think you have to be realistic with the limits of MT4, and that goes beyond the location of the VPS.Changing a server in London could help you, but the platform itself has restrictions on latency and management of orders that do not always respond well in moments of high activity. If you want stability, first prove other platforms and see how they respond in London's peaks.A quality VPS helps, but MT4 will always be limited compared to options such as Ctrader or Metatrader 5, which have a different network architecture to minimize these problems.

London is the cradle of Forex, and a VPS in LD4 offers important advantages if you operate exclusively in the European session. That is not debatable. But the investment is large and, if you do not have high volumes or do not operate during important news, the benefits can be minimal. You may spend in vain if the impact on your results is not what you expect. You could do a test in a broker with servers in London and then decide.Sometimes, the difference is so small that it does not compensate for the change in infrastructure, and NYC meets without problems with lower volume.

If you noticed stability problems in NYC, the change to London is an option, but you must analyze if it is worth it.A VPS in Equinix LD4 can offer less latency, but if your broker does not handle demand well, the problem will persist. The ideal is to have both the broker and the VPS in London to obtain better conditions.Make sure the EA you use is optimized to execute high speed orders, because if not, not even the best VPS will help you.The platform and strategy must be aligned with the infrastructure so that you really notice the difference in your operation.
I am not going to lie to you, the change from NYC to London sounds ideal if you operate in the London session, but it may not have the effect you imagine.A closer VPS helps, but if the broker does not respond to the same speed, you will stay with the same frustration. It is useless to reduce latency if the broker or platform are blocked in critical moments.I think you should contact your broker and ask if they offer MT4 options in London.Sometimes, even with reduced latency, a well -configured server on NYC could work as well if the quality of the broker is adequate.
London offers a direct connection with most European liquidity suppliers, which can be advantageous in high volatility hours. However, if your broker has servers in NYC, you may see only a marginal improvement, especially if you operate in low frequency. The great advantage of London is really noticeable for those who need greater precision in real -time prices. If that is something crucial for your strategy, go ahead. But if you only operate in middle or long intervals, it is likely that it does not justify the extra cost.
