Hey guys, recently I've been having trouble with my computer operating meteatrader 4.... You're probably have alot of charts available with lots of indiors on these. This will really slow MT4 down. Some indys out there use alot of processing power and several are buggy and not very well written. Some usage lots of complied calculations tick by tick and causing it to slowdown. Even in case you update it may be a prob with indiors. (Thats if you are employing lots, if not, then go ahead and update!)

I purchased a SSD and witness a massive improvement in my performance.

Mine is Mercury Extreme Pro RE SSD 100G.

I do not use MT4 a lot, simply to compare some indis here and there but for any information mining or dealing with heavy writing and studying on HD you will never go back.

I have approximately 30 charts opened and running at any given time. This includes my 30minute charts, and also a copy of these currency pairs on weekly charting. About the 30 minute charts I operate two separate MACD's, and 3 of those Rumpled Ones indiors. They are not used because of my egy, however I use they supporting evidence for a transfer. I have heard that these progr might be a hog on resources.

I just finished placing the order to get a new computer (minutes away from sending the credit card amount at!) . It worries me that the extra computer power might not alleviate the problem, as was stated! I didn't order a SSD drive yet. My mainboard has SATAIII, and so I hope for the new SSD forces which operate on SATAIII to emerge to take complete advantage of the SSD speeds they are capable of. At the mean time, I will be running a WD Caviar Black 7200RPM SATAIII drive.

Unless you are writing tons of logs, then you'll find the largest advancement by adding more RAM. How much precisely depends upon your EA's. Some usage very little RAM and many others utilize it like it is going out of fashion.

When windows runs non of RAM it will begin to utilize disk swap, and it is a disc file that is used like RAM. This will slow things down.

so my .02. . .add RAM

As crazy as it seems, the cost of new ram was way too much for my laptop (two x 4gb = ~$400), and so I figured its a much better choice to just buy a new computer!! It will include 8GB of 1333RAM. I actually changed my mind and have called back the store to bring an SSD drive into the system too.

Thought I would give an update to an earlier article which I started. So I updated to and SSD drive, and it is substantially faster. I conduct another equity computer software appliion, Stockfinder 5, which scans for certain parameters that I set it to hunt. Before with my previous laptop computer configuration it might take 15 minutes to conduct a full scan. Once I had the SSD it ran it 4 minutes. Additionally all other trading platforms were operating much smoother, and my Metatrader is operating well!!

I really did want to make one comment that will probably help a lot of people outside. Just before I got my new computer system, I ran into excruciatingly painful, computer speeds when conducting my Dukascopy trading platform and Metatrader. So I called Dukascopy to ask for help. Their suggestion was to go into my Java settings and clean the cache. I thought, fine well I will give it a chance to fix the Dukascopy platform, which it did help significantly. Additionally, I realized almost ordinary speeds on the Metatrader charting too. So, to anyone out there finding their Metatrader is slow, clear out your Java Cache also it is going to surely speed things. Who knows, you may not even have to purchase a new computer!!!!

Go to: control panel - coffee - configurations (temporary internet files) - delete files

Glad I could help

Hey guys, lately I've been having difficulty with my computer operating meteatrader 4. It tends to be somewhat slow, and the moves are very choppy. Takes seconds to change between phases. I spoke to a friend who stated that he thinks that my computer limit is in the hard disk. My laptop specs are: Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0 GHZ; 4GB CL 6 - 800 RAM; 5200RPM 500GB drive.

My query is how a lot of you traders are using SSD drives? What's your experience? Any suggestions or recommendations? Do you set both Metatrader as well as the info files (ie, indiors, profiles, ea's) about the SSD or separate them?

I'm in the process of earning an upgrade on my trading computer system, but am unsure whether I should just make modifiions to my current laptop that's close to being adequate. I had been thinking about just including a 120GB SSD, plus some reduced CAS RAM. My other alternative, would be to purchase a desktop with a Core i5 7xx series, or i7 8xx series chip (just the core i7 gets the hyper-threading). With the new computer update I was also going to put in a 50GB OCZ RevoDrive running from a PCI-e slot that will have super speedy read/write, and IOPS.

Picture that, I am looking for suggestions from other people about how best to invest my money? Consider it as spending money vicariously through me!!

Cheers, CH
