Thread: CBOT Market Profile

    Hi P,

Yes. It's from the NT Forum.

There are a couple Market Profile motivated creations floating
around there. I can't find the thread which I got mine out of
however, a new version is here (if the link works):
    http://www.ninjatrader-support2.com/...949postcount=2

I'm not to well versed in the entire MP thing however, like I said, I'm
only more interested in the idea to apply a few parts
of it, which may be applicableto Currency Market. The quantity in Currency Market
is clearly not the same. On the chart that I published I believe
it is TPO. The new version on the link that I just posted seems
to include tick quantity as an alternative.

Just some things to play around with and possibly broaden our
    horizons.

    Cheers!
    Brent

This is the major observation and area of interest to me personally.

It really seems to work fairly well to help identify pivot areas
and (at least possible ) reactionary areas.

Thanks so much for your input and for stopping by!

    All of the best,

There is a whole slew of trading concepts related to market profile, the picture and is a representation of higher-order concepts. It's possible to exchange w/ market profile notions w/o ever using the picture, or, regrettably... you can exchange w/ only the picture, w/o any of those concepts, and fail miserably at the process.

The material at the CBOT is great, but the book Mind over Markets is a lot better. The idea of employing time as a crucial element of price analysis should not be dismissed. Both when and how long price occurs provides you meaningful information about the essence of where the market wants to proceed, and whether or not a burst is renewable. The TPO count (and PoC) is only a method of representing this information.

The very best portion of the CBOT book doesn't begin till about 60 percent of the way through the book. They cover stuff initially. The substance is a rehash and not all that useful until you get into day types. But as soon as you see how price tests and imbalances can tell you when a day will range versus if it trend, the substance starts being helpful. For a free book written in the 80s, it's not bad... but there are better ones out there. Sadly ppl will cover the first 50 pages zone out, missing the stuff that is very best.

    Hello Rabid!

You'll find so many interesting topics and concepts presented
in Mind Over Markets. A favorite of mine is the way the market is
is constantly seeking trade facilitation and showing itself
    through acceptance and rejection.
I guess you've Steidlmayer and Koy's Markets and Market ?
    I love that one.

Thank you for sharing your ideas!

    Thanks.

What's the record name of the zip you clicked?
I can probably find it like that.
I've the ninja MP from fin-alg on my main machine but was searching for something that was free that I was able to put on a different machine in a different office.

I must respectfully disagree regarding the CBOT handbook, although Dalton's books were great(really great), I believe the handbook is equally important. Because these were concepts that were presented for the very first time I never looked at any section for a rehash. I look at Steidlmayer's work(the handbook) since the foundation of the volcano, everything then was constructed off that foundation.

I will probably find it that way....
    Here your go: CalculateValueAreaHistoV6

Only a price histogram and not a true MP chart but, pretty wonderful!

BTW: If anybody has Kaufman's Trading Systems and Methods
check out the summary of MP on page 458 in the Price Distribution
    chapter. Well summary IMO.

This is great material to study on soggy cold Seattle winter nights!
