Thread: Can you change this EA?

  1. #1
    Hi programmers,

I've this EA that puts stop orders below current price. What I need is an EA that will set limit orders instead of stop orders below current price. Can you alter this EA to do that while keeping each the parameters exactly the same?

    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

Read Dictionary in Metaeditor, for types of order, subsequently change OrderSend() accordingly. You can certainly do it yourself. Easy.

Hi Zen. Thank you for responding. I tried to follow along with instructions to modify the EA myself however I couldn't make heads or tails from the entire thing. In the MT4 Navigator window that I right-clicked Modify that is selected and that the EA. The MetaEditor screen came up with the EA. Next I tried to read the Dictionary in Metaeditor for types of order but couldn't locate the dictionary. This is where I am stuck. I looked over the particulars of the EA to attempt to find and alter OrderSend() but couldn't locate it . Maybe you or someone else could look at the EA in MetaEditor and tell me precisely what I want to modify? This does not look easy to me

    Thanks again,
    Paul

    Hello yohan_ip,

Thanks for supplying to alter the code for me personally. I figured out that the EA has the choice to place stop or limit orders below current price. I needed to change wantBreakout to false and to true in order to place limit orders rather than stop orders.

The initial system using stop orders was profitable, however prior to realizing a profit or my profit target of 1% I would observe a drawdown in equity of almost 50% sometimes. This occurs during times of consolidation. I guess had I utilized limit orders rather than stop orders afterward I could set a stop of 1-2% whilst targeting 10-20%. That is all theoretical. I won't know unless I demo trade for a short time whether this will hold true. We'll see what happens....

    Regards,
    Paul
