Thread: MT4 or MT5 for Scalping: which is really better?

The best thing that MT5 has is the integrated economic calendar. To scalping in news is a brutal advantage.

That function interests me, could anyone share a screenshot of how the calendar looks on MT5? I haven�t used it yet.

What I like most about MT5 is that the tests in the Strategy Tester are much faster and more accurate than in MT4.

MT4 is like a Nokia 3310: indestructible, simple and enough for what it does.

MT5 is like a modern smartphone: many functions you may not even use, but they are there.

If you're going to start from scratch, you'd better learn straight on MT5. Don't get married with obsolete technology.

If you already have your arsenal of indicators and scripts in MT4, don't complicate yourself: go ahead with MT4.

Careful, some brokers only offer hedging accounts on MT4. MT5 sometimes forces netting, and that changes your position management.

I use both MT4 for manual operations and MT5 for advanced backtesting. So I combine the best of both worlds.

MT4 has the advantage of custom, but in 5 years we'll all be in MT5 or something better.
